#BlogTour #Review Secrets of the Dead by Carol Wyer @carolewyer @Bookouture

Today is finally my turn on the Secrets of the Dead blog tour.

Carol Wyer is a force to be reckoned with now she’s turned to the dark side!!! Do not let her cheery, warm and lovely face deceive you, this woman has a despicable mind!!!

Her second crime thriller is out now, Secrets of the Dead is bloody brilliant …

Here’s the blurb …

Colourful, plastic boats were scattered in puddles on the floor. In the bathtub lay Linda Upton, fully-clothed, lips a shade of blue, and bloodshot eyes wide open.

When a young mother is found drowned in the bath, clutching a receipt saying ‘all debts paid’, Detective Robyn Carter knows it’s just the beginning of a harrowing case. She recognises the signs of a serial killer, and when a second victim with a receipt is found, her worst fears are confirmed.

With the local press whipping the public into a frenzy, Robyn is under pressure to solve the crime yesterday. But her team can’t find a link between the two bodies, and the cracks are starting to show.

Just when her leads have dried up, Robyn discovers an unsettling clue she thinks could unlock the case. But as she chases across the plush carpets and manicured lawns of the wealthy elite, honing in on the killer’s shocking motive, one of her own is put in terrible danger.

Can Robyn stop the most twisted killer of her career before it’s too late?

My thoughts …

When I found out that lovely, gorgeous, fluffy Carol Wyer was turning to the dark side for her novel Little Girl Lost (you can read my review here) I’m not ashamed to admit I was a little dubious … I mean come on, have you seen her? She hasn’t got a nasty bone in her body but she clearly has a nasty mind!!!

So, book one in the Robyn Carter series, Little Girl Lost was bloody brilliant! Gritty, pacy, and addictive … Could she do it again with book two?

Secrets of the Dead is fan-bloody-tastic!

When the charred remains of a hotel manager are discovered in the hotel spa, no one but Robyn suspects foul play. As she tries to convince the powers that be of her thoughts, the body of a woman is discovered, who appears to have a debt receipt in her hand but what is it for? What debt has been repaid? And who did she owe £250,000 to?!

As another body is discovered with the same receipt, the team are thrown.

What connects these two seemingly unrelated people and more importantly, who is collecting their debts?

There is a rather large cast in Secrets of the Dead but don’t worry, Wyer’s writing is so great that you don’t get lost, you know exactly what everyone is doing – apart from the killer that is!!!

As the plot is laid out and the past starts to hint at the present day goings on, you will be left on the edge of your seat as Robyn and her team race against the clock to find out the Secrets of the Dead (see what I did there 😉 )

You seriously need to buy this book and it’s out now on Amazon UK

My thanks to the author and Bookouture for my copy of the book to read as part of the blog tour.

  1. Emma Mitchell, you are incredible! I’ve been bouncing up and down on my stability ball like a kangaroo in excitement and even old Grumpy couldn’t put a dampner on my mood. I really can’t thank you enough for this outstanding review which I shall treasure. I’m going to put it in my ‘special review’ file so when I get stuck or demoralised, I’ll pull it up and re read it. Thank you so much for this and for being part of the book tour. I’m off to bounce downstairs now and scare Grumpy. xx
