#LoveAudio #TeamOrenda Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski @ConcreteKraken @OrendaBooks @Annecater @audibleuk

Six Stories is by far THE most genius book EVER!!!!!!

Matt Wesolowski has created something EXCEPTIONAL with his debut novel and I do not use that word lightly!

Seriously, if you haven’t read Six Stories yet you must must must go and get it now.

I was lucky enough to meet the author earlier this year at the Orenda Roadshow and at the event he read an extract of the book. At this point I was half way through my paperback so listening to it actually being read was a real treat.

Can you imagine my delight then when I was invited to take part in the Orenda’s #LoveAudio Week, which is a week of some the most amazing bloggers sharing their reviews of some the some amazing  audio books by #TeamOrenda – I was doubly delighted to find that I had been selected to review Six Stories because I just knew it was going to special.

I was not expecting what I got!

Being a recent convert to the whole audio book ‘thing’ (my house hasn’t been this clean and tidy for a long time [I have four kids] as I listen while I clean and we all know one chapter is never enough!) so I was excited to have this book. Now imagine my surprise when there was a cast! A full cast! Now, before I continue, I’m going to give you the blurb so that you know what I’m taking about …

ORENDA BOOKS (20 Dec. 2016)

1997. Scarclaw Fell. The body of teenager Tom Jeffries is found at an outward bound centre. Verdict? Misadventure. But not everyone is convinced. And the truth of what happened in the beautiful but eerie fell is locked in the memories of the tight-knit group of friends who embarked on that fateful trip, and the flimsy testimony of those living nearby. 2017. Enter elusive investigative journalist Scott King, whose podcast examinations of complicated cases have rivalled the success of Serial, with his concealed identity making him a cult internet figure. In a series of six interviews, King attempts to work out how the dynamics of a group of idle teenagers conspired with the sinister legends surrounding the fell to result in Jeffries’ mysterious death. And who’s to blame … As every interview unveils a new revelation, you’ll be forced to work out for yourself how Tom Jeffries died, and who is telling the truth. A chilling, unpredictable and startling thriller, Six Stories is also a classic murder mystery with a modern twist, and a devastating ending.

So, as you can see, Six Stories is a series of six interviews with the now-grown teenagers who were at Scarclaw Fell the night Tom Jefferies died over twenty years ago. The interviews make up a series of six podcasts, aired online over six weeks. Each week, a different member of the original group of friends recalls what they can of that period of their lives, each one revealing a little more than the last.

Now, as I was saying before, this is the first audio book I have listened to with a cast, more than one narrator, in fact, there are EIGHT narrators!!! EIGHT!!!!!!! And they cover every word in the book as the whole script is told in the words of one of the characters!

What did I tell you? GENIUS!!!!!

Wesolowski has managed to combine literary brilliance with modern technology – what a fu*king achievement! Absolutely mind blowing!!! Honestly … I could not stop listening to this, it was like having the movies in my ears for eight hours and eleven glorious minutes!!!! And trust me, glorious is the right word.

This is an absolute must listen to folks, it really is, and if you don’t do audio books, go and get the book instead, you will not be disappointed at all! The cast are amazing, they captured the feel of the book perfectly. Just wonderful!

Well paced, thoroughly intriguing, and with a whole cast of unreliable witnesses, you are in for a belter of a story!!!

I CANNOT wait to see what Wesolowski has in store for us next!!! Please don’t keep us waiting too long!!!!
