It’s my stop on the blog tour for Cheryl Elaine’s Dragged to the Depths today and I’m delighted to have Cheryl join me to share what a typical day for her looks like …

A day with Cheryl Elaine

Having three demanding teenage daughters and one daughter with disabilities, my household from morning till night can only be described as hectic. So with free time being a rare opportunity, I decided to use that time to escape into a world of fiction. Every night, I sat with my laptop, huddled in bed, whilst my girls were tucked up and wrote my first crime novel, NO Ordinary Girl, which is suitable for readers over eighteen years, due to the graphic content .

My daughters often nagged to read my first novel but it wasn’t age appropriate, so with this is mind and my love of fantasy, I wrote my first YA novel, Dragged to the Depths, which holds a dark element, magic, mythology and shape- shifters, hence an apocalyptic love story.

I’m not structured with my writing days; my busy life style won’t allow that, therefore I still take my laptop to bed and when the girls are at school, I work in the kitchen with my two little dogs laid on my feet like permanent slippers.

This last year has been amazing; I’ve met some wonderful friends and Authors through book groups, I love interacting with my readers, as writing can be such solitary career, and often find myself checking in on social media platforms more often than I should.

Dragged to the Depths is a YA fantasy that delves into the emotions of grief and love, here’s the blurb …

Dragged to the Depths: A Cherry Laine Fantasy by [Elaine, Cheryl]

AAH Publishing (6 Jun. 2018)

Tormented with grief after losing her father, Emilia journeyed to her gran’s, in a desperate attempt to escape the memories surrounding her. But once there, she found little rest and respite on the remote Orkney islands after discovering a supernatural world under the sea.

The gods, goddesses and unfamiliar species of Mother Earth’s oceanic lands welcomed her with open arms – particularly Erox, the love of Emilia’s life. Her eyes were opened to the greed and hatred of her fellow mortals; it wasn’t a question of whether she was simply following destiny – she knew the path to RESET was one she could not ignore.

Erox smiled before giving Emilia a lingering kiss. She didn’t hesitate, and gave herself freely to the vortex before heading into the unknown. Could she save herself, let alone everyone else on the planet?

Dragged to the Depths will lead readers into a magical world full of secrets, legacies and adventure. An apocalyptic love story for those who believe there’s someone for everyone, somewhere…
