#BlogTour Doorways by Rob Enright @REnright_Author #IndieAuthor #SciFi #Sleepstealer #SelfPublishing

Good morning bookworms!

I don’t read sci-fi books … my dad used to watch Star Trek and some of the aliens scared the heck outta me as a kid, but, I won this book in a competition last year, read it, LOVED IT, and I am SO glad I took a step outside my normal comfort zone!

I am over the moon to be kicking off the blog tour for Doorways by Robert Enright.

Before I start harping on about it, here’s the blurb …

The Otherside is located at the fringes of our world, hiding in plain sight and existing within our shadows. Shielded from humanity, the Otherside is watched over by the BTCO, a highly secret government agency. BTCO agents are the few humans who possess ‘The Knack’, a genetic anomaly that allows them to see the truth of existence.

Franklyn ‘Bermuda’ Jones is the BTCO’s finest agent, the only human to have passed to The Otherside and returned. Gifted with the ability to physically interact with The Otherside, Bermuda reluctantly stands between both worlds, pining for the life he had to leave behind and the daughter he can no longer see. Teamed with Argyle, an enigmatic Otherside warrior, Bermuda is assigned the case of a missing woman who has vanished under mysterious circumstances.

As Bermuda delves further into the disappearance, he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to destroy the truce between two worlds…and finds himself in a race against time to safeguard humanity’s very existence.

My thoughts …

Well well well, Mr Enright … I flipping loved this book!

From the very start I was completely gripped. Bermuda is a brilliant character, I really ‘fell’ for him – not in a book boyfriend kinda way – but in that way you just love a character.

Born with ‘the gift’ of being able to see the Nithers from the Otherside, he is also the only human to have ever gone to that side and survive. But all this is at the sacrifice of this own family. He had to leave his wife and daughter to keep them out of harms way. Bermuda lives quite a lonely life, his best friend, Argyle, is a warrior Nither from the Otherside and Bermuda misses his daughter desperately, it’s not surprising then that he latches on to the attention shown to him by a missing girl’s room mate.

As the investigation into the missing continues, it becomes clear that Bermuda and Argyle are facing something much more sinister than they ever have before, something that may even test the strength of Argyle, who isn’t just Bermuda’s best friend, he is his Nither Warrior bodyguard.

I cannot believe I’ve read a sci-fi book.

And enjoyed. Actually, not only did I enjoy it, I want to read the next one, which I think (HOPE) is coming out very soon!! YEAH!!

Enright is a great writer, the plot was well thought out and was pulled together in a manner that kept me wanting to read more and keep turning the pages. The pace was perfect, not too confusing for those who don’t normally read this type of book either.

The characters and world that Enright has created make for some seriously compelling reading, it’s quite fascinating to think that there could be this Otherside, just on the cusp of being integrated with our world and the more I think about it, the more I think that it’s not that far-fetched. I mean, I believe in other life forms out there and plenty of people believe in a god that they cannot see – why not Nithers?

*blogger shudders at the thought and realises this might be why she doesn’t read sci-fi books 😉 *

I did have to sleep with the light on after reading this one!

I think that is testament to Enright’s writing abilities, to make people believe that his (hopefully) imaginary world could actually be real, just spectacular skill and talent!

I highly recommend this one folks, go and get it now!!!!

It’s available over on Amazon UK now!!!

I’m off to get a copy of his debut, One by One now … I’ll treat you to those details too …

Violence is like a storm.

For Lucas Cole, life is more than he could have ever hoped for. Daily Muay Thai training sessions with his best friend, a progressive career as a mechanic and married to Helen, the love of his life. All of it comes to an end on a rainy saturday night in London.

When Helen is ripped from the world by the notorious Drayton family on a visit to the capital and the police, including the prodigal Officer Starling, do little to bring them to justice, Lucas embarks on a rain soaked London to put things right himself.

As the body count rises and the ripple effects of the escalating violence reaches further than he could have imagined, Lucas has to confront his dark past, his continuous grief, a nationwide police hunt and, of course, the Draytons….

One by One.

A riveting story of revenge and redemption with hard-hitting action and heart-wrenching grief, One by One is a must for fans of Crime Thrillers.

Be sure to follow the rest of the tour:

About the author …

Robert Enright

Born and raised in North West London and now residing in Hertfordshire, Robert Enright has been writing for over 10 years. His debut novel – ONE BY ONE – was self published on Amazon in March 2015, receiving critical acclaim and was nominated for Books Go Social Book of the Year 2015. The violent, revenge thriller gave Rob a path into crime fiction, but the constantly embraced geek within him went a different way. 2016 will see the release of DOORWAYS – published by Urbane Publications – the first in the Bermuda Jones series, a dark sci-fi about an agency dealing with the threat of a parallel world. He can’t wait to write the whole series – if he can put down his Xbox controller or his Nerf Guns!
