What a book! I am on the blog tour for If You Only Knew by Cynthia Clark today and my gosh it’s a belter!
First up, here’s the blurb …
Aria (1 Oct. 2017)
A wife, a mother, a killer.
One wrong decision, one terrifying night, leaves student Elizabeth with a stark choice – kill or be killed. And the consequences of that choice will shape her whole life.
Now a wife, a mother, and a lawyer, she must find a way to out run her past, protect her family and live with her secret. But is it really possible to live a happy life with such a huge shadow cast by the past? And as it becomes clear that someone else knows her secret and is hunting her down, time is running out for Elizabeth to keep her family safe.
In the bestselling tradition of Clare Mackintosh and Jenny Blackhurst, Cynthia Clark has written a heart-stopping story about the choices we make and how far we’d go to protect our families. Even if it means deceiving the people we love most…
My thoughts …
What a bloody book? Seriously folks, you need to read this one!
Elizabeth has a choice to make and that choice will determine her future but at the time, she has no idea what that effect will be.
For a debut novel, If You Only Knew is fantastic.
A compelling thriller that will literally have your heart pounding.
As the blurb tells us, Elizabeth has a choice to make, quite a serious one – kill or be killed. I know what I’d do!!
That decision stays with her for the rest of her life but it’s a secret, not one she tells anyone and one she thinks no one else knows. Fast forward several years and Elizabeth is married, a mother, and has a successful career as a lawyer. But someone knows her secret and they are intent on ruining her life. What is Elizabeth now prepared to do to keep this secret from her family?
Told in perfectly paced chapters which switch between past and present (you all know by now that I LOVE books that do this well) and Clark has nailed it with this one. With the right amount of information in each chapter, she manages to make taking a break almost impossible, I could not out this down!
A well thought out and brilliantly executed debut, If You Only Knew is a fast paced thriller that will have you wanting more and I cannot wait to see what Clark has in store for us with book two!
My thanks to the author and Aria eFiction for my ARC copy and place on the tour!
