#Review Angel by LJ Ross @LJRoss_author

Why oh why have I waited so long to start reading Louise’s books?!? What a nugget I am!!!

A few months ago Louise asked if I’d like to take a look at her latest book, Angel, book four in the DCI Ryan series, needless to say I jumped at the chance! My TBR pile was about to fall over but I managed to get it read a couple of weeks ago and dya know what, I read it one sitting!

Here’s the blurb . . .cover

He’ll make you his angel, but first you have to die… After a turbulent time, DCI Ryan’s life is finally beginning to return to normal and he’s looking forward to spending an uneventful Easter bank holiday weekend with his fiancée. Then, on Good Friday morning he is called out to a crime scene at one of the largest cemeteries in Newcastle. The body of a redheaded woman has been found buried in a shallow grave and the killer has given her wings, like an angel. Soon, another woman is found at a different cemetery, followed quickly by another. Panic spreads like wildfire as a new serial killer is born, and Ryan’s band of detectives must work around the clock to unmask him before he can strike again. Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

My thoughts . . .

Louise Ross’s books have been on my want to read but never quite got to it list for ages now and I am so mad with myself for not starting sooner!

Angel is the fourth book in her DCI Ryan series and what an instalment it is!

DCI Ryan and his team are called to investigate the murder of a red-haired lady whose body is found in a graveyard, set up to look like an angel. As the body count grows (I LOVE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS!!) and panic starts to spread, the team must throw everything they have at the investigation before anyone else is killed.

Ross’s descriptive prose is breath-taking! I felt like I was stood at the edge of each scene, especially the graveyards – WOW! Completely foreboding and scary as hell! It just shows the brilliance of her writing that she can create such feelings in a reader.

There are moments which flashback to the previous books; these are done to perfection as they allow you to understand a bit more about the characters without giving too much away from the previous books. I loved all the main characters and I am so excited that I can now go back to start and see how they have developed into the team they are in Angel.

This is one of those books that you don’t want to end but absolutely cannot stop reading!

Angel is a fast paced, gritty and twisted read which I would highly recommend!

Thank you so much for giving me the kick up the backside I needed to start your books Louise! I absolutely loved it!

Louise publishes her own books (she’s that awesome!) and you can get your paperback (which are brilliantly made by the way!) audio and EBook copies over at Amazon UK
